Obituary for Winifred A. "Winnie" Shermer
Winifred A. (Spring) Shermer, 78, of Enfield, passed from her earthly journey in the comfort of her home, and went to be with loved ones in Heaven on Friday, April 6, 2018. She was the beloved wife of 47 years to K. Walter Shermer. Born on August 31, 1939 in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Thornton and Winifred (Russell) Spring. Winifred had resided in Enfield for the past 50 years. A devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother she dedicated her life to caring for her family and home. She looked forward to phone calls from family & friends and to playing Jeopardy on TV with her beloved daughter every day. As well as crossword puzzles in the local newspaper. A very smart woman with the most amazing loving care and humor. Winifred could and still will bring many smiles to her loving family and friends. She will forever be known as “pretty witty Winifred”.
In addition to her husband, Walter she is also survived by a son Michael Shermer & wife, Kelly, a devoted daughter Kristen Shermer all of Enfield, and a son Paul Sciaretta of Chicopee, MA, several grandchildren and her beloved dog “Sasha Toby”. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a sister Elizabeth Marotto and a nephew Richard Marotto.
Funeral and Burial Services for Winifred will be private. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations in Winifred’s memory be made to a favorite charity of the donor’s choice. Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield has been entrusted with her arrangements.
