Obituary for Mary Ethel Conway (Murphy)
Mary E. (Murphy) Conway 89, longtime resident of Enfield, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018. Mary was born on January 13, 1929 in Springfield, MA, daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Murphy. For 54 years she was the beloved wife of John B. Conway Sr. until his passing in 2001. Mary who was known affectionately as “Nana” was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of many churches over her life, enjoyed playing cards at the Knights of Columbus in Somers, Bingo and trips to the casino.
Nana is survived by two children, Judith & Allen Barna of Somers and John B. Conway Jr. of Enfield; eight grandchildren, Christina & Ciro Gallignano, Melissa & Brian DuPerre, John B. Conway III, David Conway, Ryan Conway, Michael James Grimaldi, Andrew Conway and Adam Conway; four great grandchildren Erica & Eric Richardson, Elizabeth Lachat, Benjamin DuPerre and Jonathan DuPerre; and one great-great granddaughter Bailey Richardson: and many nieces, nephews and friends. Along with both her parents and husband she was predeceased by two children Linda Grimaldi and Michael Conway; and two brothers Joseph and Francis Murphy.
Family and friends are invited on Thursday April 19th from 8-10 am to Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, for a period of visitation prior to the Mass of Christian Burial, at 10:30 am in St Jeanne Jugan (Holy Family) Parish, 23 Simon Rd, Enfield. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to the St. Jeanne Jugan Parish, Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd., Enfield, CT 06082.
