Obituary for Theresa T. (Troiano) Tracy

Theresa T. (Troiano) Tracy
Theresa Troiano Tracy passed away at home on June 6, 2018 with loved ones at her side after a brief illness. Theresa was born on August 6, 1937 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, Connecticut and lived her life in Enfield. She graduated from Enfield High School and attended American International College in Springfield, MA, where she pursued an education to become a teacher and met her husband to be, Alan K. Tracy of Southington, CT. They were married soon after graduation in 1964 and on April 18th they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.
Theresa’s early life was made rich with a large, active and extended Italian-American family centered around family gatherings and the Mt. Carmel Society Italian social club. She was devoted to her beloved parents, Antonio and Anna Troiano, all throughout their long lives, as well as to extended family and close “paesans,” who could be Italian or not. Family was central to her life and Theresa enjoyed nothing more than preparing beautiful and multi-course meals for family and friends. She was well known as an excellent cook and there was always a sauce simmering on her kitchen stove ready to be served with pasta to whomever walked through the door.
Theresa was a devoted mother to her three children, Elizabeth, Alan and Joseph, and spent her adult life providing them, their friends and eventually their families a rich and welcoming home to always return to. She also provided them a constant example of selfless, devoted and unheralded service to others, especially to those less fortunate than herself wherever she encountered them. Theresa was a lifelong communicant of St. Patrick’s church in Enfield and she was guided in this service by her great faith and devotion.
In addition to her family and faith, Theresa loved a good movie, she liked to travel and enjoyed a good Manhattan with ice on the side. She also loved the ocean and was fortunate to spend consistent time at her homes in Westerly, RI and Vero Beach, Fl, where she enjoyed looking at real estate, and searching for a good bargain (especially at thrift stores).
Theresa loved her grandchildren and took great pride and interest in their growth and development, teaching them valuable lessons and leaving an indelible impression on each of them. She will be greatly missed, but her memory will endure with all those she touched, especially her family. Theresa was a unique and special spirit and her family takes comfort in knowing that she has gone to her reward for a life of devotion, sacrifice and service to others.
Theresa leaves her husband of 54 years Alan; her daughter and son-in- law Elizabeth and Peter and grandsons Jason and Kyle Montecalvo of Deep River, CT; her son and daughter-in-law Alan and Sarah and granddaughters Savannah, Kate, and Ella Tracy of Freeport, ME and her son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Julie and grandchildren Alexa and Matthew Tracy of Enfield, CT. Theresa also leaves two brothers Frank Troiano and Anthony Troiano and their families. She was predeceased by her parents and sister in law, Penny Magin.
Theresa and her family received great support and comfort from the hospice experience, especially from Eileen, Tammy, Heather and Stella. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Masonicare Partners HomeHealth & Hospice, 111 Founders Plaza Suite 200, East Hartford, CT 06108, or a hospice resource of your choosing.
The Tracy family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels in Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018, with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Patrick Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield.
