Obituary for Edward R. Desplaines Jr.
Edward R. Desplaines, Jr., beloved husband of the late Patricia J. (Holliday) Desplaines, passed away July 16, 2018. Born March 5, 1939 in Worcester, MA Edward was the son of the late Edward R. Desplaines, Sr. and Marion E. (Lynch) Desplaines. He received his Bachelor of Engineering Degree from Worcester Polytechnic Inst. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era. Prior to his retirement Edward had been employed, as an engineer with International Boiler Works, Hamilton Standard and the United States Postal Service, Edward is survived by 3 children; Laurie Keegan of Stafford, CT, Edward Desplaines, III and wife Cheng of Cheshire, CT and Christina Black and husband Daniel of Ludlow, MA. He also leaves 9 grandchildren; Ryan, Matthew, Elizabeth Peyton, Daniel IV, Blake, Taylor, Melody and Angela, 1 great grandchild Patrick and his brother Dennis Desplaines of Oakham, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Edward’s life will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2018 at St. Martha Church, 214 Brainard Rd., Enfield. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Patrick King St. Cemetery. Donations in Edward’s memory may be made to DAV – Disabled American Veterans P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301
