Emile Louis Allard, Jr., 83, died on September 13, 2018 at Covenant Village of Cromwell. Born in Bristol, Connecticut on September 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Clara (Zaliszewski) Allard and Emile Louis Allard, Sr. He was predeceased by his wife of almost 59 years, Jeannette Suzanne (Flagg) Allard, who passed away in March 2015, and three sisters: Rosemarie Allard, Clara DeGarie, and Eileen Fortier.
After graduating from Bristol High School, Emile served four years in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Preserver, stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He and his wife, Jeannette “Jan”, made their home in Bristol, Connecticut until moving to East Granby in 1972. In East Granby, Emile was active in the Lion’s Club. They moved to Enfield, Connecticut in 2004, and Emile moved to Convenant Village of Cromwell in 2017.
Emile retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford after working there over 30 years. In the 1980s, he and his wife owned Jan’s Granby Handymart in Granby and a laundromat in Manchester. Emile subsequently spent several years as the superintendent for Higley Village and Metacomet Village in East Granby before retiring for good.
Emile leaves his sister - Lucille D’Agostino of Southington, Connecticut; three daughters – René Bowers of Conway, South Carolina; Lori Anderson (husband Michael) of Middletown, Connecticut; and Christie Mason of Stafford Springs, Connecticut; two sons – Gary Allard (wife Carol) of Morreau, New York and Neil Allard (wife Lisa) of Leesville, South Carolina; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons-in-law – Ed Bowers and Chad Mason.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, Connecticut. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 3, 2018 with the procession forming at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Adalbert Church, 90 Alden Ave., Enfield for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial with military honors in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Enfield, Connecticut.
