Obituary for Maria Angela Diana (Porcello)

Maria (Porcello) Diana, 79, daughter of the late Giovanni and Angela (Vizzola) Porcello, entered into Eternal Peace on Friday December 7, 2018. She was Predeceased by her husband Charles Diana in 1997. Maria met her husband to be, Charles, in Naro Sicily, and after marrying him she moved to the United States and became citizen in 1998. Maria resided in Enfield most of her adult life and later in Vernon.
Maria is survived by her children; Charles Diana of Vernon, Maria Diana- Root of Enfield and Angela and Duncan Babcock of Vernon, her grandchildren; Dustin, Deanna, Diana, Robert and Vinny. She also leaves her sister Tina Porcello Rinaldi and husband Vincenzo “Vinny” Rinaldi of Enfield and her brother Giuseppe Porcello and his wife Rosa of Naro, Sicily, along with her brother-in-law Gerald Diana and several nieces and nephews. Affectionately referred to as “Nona” by all who knew her, her character and charisma made an impression on everyone she met. Maria was small in stature, but with a huge personality. Some of her greatest joy came from hosting gatherings of family and friends, where she would cook and entertain guests with coffee and dice games. She was also a compassionate and generous woman, who will be sorely missed by all. Maria’s family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Evergreen Health care and extend a special thank you to Dionne for her loving and attentive care.
A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Maria’s life be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at St. Raymond of Penafort Parish (St. Patrick Church). Calling hours will be prior to mass from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Interment will be in St. Patrick King King St. Cemetery, Enfield.
