Obituary for Alfonso Apruzzese

Alfonso  Apruzzese
Alfonso “Al” Apruzzese, 89, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Hartford Hospital with loved ones at his side. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Pauline (Smaha) Apruzzese. Alfonso was born on Oct. 28, 1928 in Everett, MA, son of the late Vincenzo and Lillian (DePrizio) Apruzzese, He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bentley University and resided in Enfield for the past 54 years. Prior to retiring Al was employed with the Department of Defense as an Auditor for 25 years. Al was a devoted and loving husband, father, and friend. He was an avid sports fan following the Red Sox, N.E. Patriots and UConn basketball.
In addition to his wife, Pauline, he is survived by his three children; Judy Apruzzese-Desroches and husband Daniel Desroches of Enfield, CT, Paula Long and husband Richard of Raymond, ME and Jane Bruno and husband Joseph of Bristol, RI, his five grandchildren; Andrew Long of St. Paul, MN, Nicholas Bruno of Bristol, RI, Michael Desroches of Enfield, Alexandra Bruno of Bristol, RI and Christopher Desroches of Enfield, CT. Al is also survived by a brother, William Apruzzese and wife Jean of Everett & Rockport, MA, and a sister, Laura (Apruzzese) Limone of Melrose, MA, along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Al was predeceased by three brothers, Louis, John & Charles Apruzzese and two sisters, Mary (Apruzzese) Gallo and Rose (Apruzzese) Bialkowski.
Al’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday morning July 19, 2018 from 9:30 to 11;30 am at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield, CT followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm (noon) in St. Martha Church, Enfield, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
